And I think she went off into the woods to die. She ran off August 2 - pushed past my 3 year old son when my hair stand opened the door to take the dogs for a walk. We searched the neighborhood for her, but nothing. We called Dogs Finding Dogs to try to track her,and she may have been wandering around on August 6 when they did the track (the tracker bloodhound really seemed to be getting an active, moving trail) but despite our creating a scent trail and feeding stations, and using a high vision hunting camera, nothing. It was really hot last week and the beginning of this one. I think she has died and I am so very sad. DFD is coming back tomorrow to try tracking again, but I am not hopeful they will find her alive, if at all.
I can't stop crying every evening. If I say anything to my husband, he gets agitated and defensive, thinking I am mad at him for letting her get out of the house off leash. Yeah, I am still a bit angry, but more just emotionally drained and wrecked.
If you are inclined to do so, I can use all the prayer for my Kaylee Bailey that she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is now playing with her big brother Malcolm.
